In the
Petting Zoo & More Exhibits Area
Our Petting Zoo and More Exhibits area has a
great number and variety of animals from all over the world. New to the
Petting Zoo is the Tropical bird aviary! Come and see
some great animals today! Don't forget your camera!
Patagonian Cavies, the third
largest rodent in the world can reach up to 20 pounds! They are the only
truly monogamous rodent in the world and wean their young at just 49 days.
Come feed "Goliath" and his family in the Petting Zoo.
Coatimundi, the Mexican-cousin
to the raccoon. This procyonide is also known as the "hog-nosed coon" and
can get into the same mischief as a raccoon. "Silas & Frankie", a father
and son duo are frequently seen playing with their toys and eating treats.
White-tailed Deer, don't confuse this group with their
easily-spooked wild cousins. This herd can't wait to meet you! Get
up close and personal with "Deerlilah" and her gang.
Llamas, don't be afraid of these docile
and gentle creatures. They come all the way from the Andes Mountains in
South America. Their thick coats and strong backs are ideal for packing in
the thin air. Llamas rarely spit and its usually at each other over a
silly squabble.
Pygmy Goats, these goats were bred for
milk and meat in Africa. The are extremely smart and do make great pets,
if you don't mind a companion that isn't potty-trained. Pygmys can have up
to four kids at a time and come in a variety of colors.
Ostrich, these ratites are very large
and the males are very aggressive, especially when they are guarding eggs.
Get them wound-up and they might do a dominance dance for you.
Bottle Babies,
there are always bottle-babies in the nursery barn or tucked away by the
keepers. We always have babies on the bottle. Babies currently in the nursery...as
of January 2008...
